Steps

I know myself well enough to know that in order to make change effectively, I must make that change in incremental steps. I must also constantly remind myself that I am intent on making change. For if I don’t my manic self (nothing medically diagnosed here, folks) will knee jerk into the previously undesirable pattern of behavior. For example, yesterday we were travelling during the lunch hour so I knew that we would need to drive thru. I pulled into McDonald’s and as I was making the turn I reminded myself of the changes I am trying to implement.


I ordered a cheeseburger and a medium diet coke. Last week I would have ordered a quarter pounder with cheese, medium fries and an egg nog shake.

Small changes lead to extraordinary things, of this I am sure.
